- the 3 of us finally got our ears pierced...though our dad thinks we've damaged our tissues & is 99.999% sure that we'd get an infection =P
- weekends are great cos I get to spend more time with family =)
- getting a little bored of spending the day out shopping but luckily for us, we passed by the library and borrowed some really good books (Traveling Light, Tramp for the Lord, Paths from science towards God, & Becoming a Contagious Christian) =D jo will be happy reading for the next couple of weeks
- praise God for allowing me to work in the lab...I've been learning so much - not only about scientific research but also to trust in Him especially when I don't get the results expected. praise God too for giving me the opportunity to share my faith with my lab mates. I haven't taken that big a step yet cos we rarely have the time to just sit down and talk outside the lab. But I've shared a little bit of my dreams of becoming a paediatrician not only because I love kids but also because I want to serve God and His people especially those in the developing countries...if God so wants me to =)
but the best "leading question" to ask a scientist, I believe, must be "Do you believe in evolution?" cos that just opens so much room for discussion. Not that I know a lot about the whole debate between naturalism versus intelligent design or even theism but I try my best to explain to them what I know and clear the misunderstanding that science and Christianity are in conflict. I definitely need to read up more…I’m still halfway through Case for a Creator. But I know I won’t be able to bring them to know Christ as their personal Saviour however eloquent the case I put up is, unless it’s God revealing Himself to them =) so I’ll keep praying and pressing on =) =)
- Tramp for the Lord by Corrie ten Boom (the sequel to The Hiding Place) is one those books that you know you’ve got to share with others just reading the first few pages =D Upon her release from the Nazi concentration camp, Corrie ten Boom travelled the world to share her testimony and spread God's love to millions...& was truly a faithful and obedient servant of Christ =) =)
Here’s an excerpt from the preface (emphasis added):
God has plans – not problems – for our lives. Before she died in the concentration camp in Ravensbruck, my sister Betsie said to me, ‘Corrie, your whole life has been a training for the work you are doing here in prison – and for the work you will do afterward.’ The life of a Christian is an education for higher service...
Looking back across the years of my life, I can see the working of a divine pattern which is the way of God with His children. When I was in a prison camp in Holland during the war, I often prayed, ‘Lord never let the enemy put me in a German concentration camp.’ God answered no to that prayer. Yet in the German camp, with all its horror, I found many prisoners who had never heard of Jesus Christ. If God had not used my sister Betsie and me to bring them to Him, they would never have heard of Him. Many died, or were killed, but many died with the Name of Jesus on their lips. They were well worth all our suffering. Faith is like radar which sees through the fog – the reality of things at a distance that the human eye cannot see.
