one thousand gifts

"The child has a hundred languages (and a hundred hundred hundred more)" ~ Loris Malaguzzi.
I really like this quote by the founder of the Reggio Emilia approach in education. A longer version of that here:

The child
is made of one hundred.
The child has
A hundred languages
A hundred hands
A hundred thoughts
A hundred ways of thinking
Of playing, of speaking.
A hundred always a hundred
Ways of listening of marveling of loving
A hundred joys
For singing and understanding
A hundred worlds
To discover
A hundred worlds
To invent
A hundred worlds
To dream
The child has
A hundred languages
(and a hundred hundred hundred more)
But they steal ninety-nine.
The school and the culture
Separate the head from the body.
They tell the child;
To think without hands
To do without head
To listen and not to speak
To understand without joy
To love and to marvel
Only at Easter and Christmas
They tell the child:
To discover the world already there
And of the hundred
They steal ninety-nine.
They tell the child:
That work and play
Reality and fantasy
Science and imagination
Sky and earth
Reason and dream
Are things
That do not belong together
And thus they tell the child
That the hundred is not there
The child says: NO WAY the hundred is there--

And it's GOD who is the source of all this richness in life, for He is Life and the Giver of Life!
We can stop and look around, pause and reflect... how amazing it is that we have been blessed with so much, how amazing it is that we can enjoy His creation, how amazing it is that we can worship Him and express our thanksgiving to Him in so many ways. For we were made to worship Him!

so adding to the never-ending list of gifts from Him...
#11: making music with Gabe (him on the piano, me on the violin) for Gong-gong
#12: more Bible studies with Auntie Salina
#13: getting rides from gracious family and friends
#14: spending time with Henry, Theresa & family, being encouraged and encouraging
#15: playing with the boys and baby Abby (adorabl-est baby around!)
#16: catching up with Liz, being reminded that God is more concerned with building our character
#17: kaya (from Germaine!) toast with Davina, her treat at Starbucks (yummy mocha with whipped cream =P), catching up, reading together...
#18: catching up with Jane & Bertha (my biggest blessings from being in the Accel. Early Childhood Education at Seneca... how crazily good can He get? =))
#19: gift from Auntie 3 (whose love and concern for us 3 little ones have been so steadfast throughout these years)
#20: skype! (now that the 3 of us are separated, and our parents still in Singapore)
#21: detailed instructions for driving test this Thursday from Kris
#22: extra week of "holiday" to relax, read, reflect, catch up with friends (glad the green tea shortbread cookies turned out okay and some really liked it =P)
#23: encouraged by a sister's and a brother's perseverance, staying strong in Christ, and being transformed by Him... and that we can say together: God is good!

I missed out a lot here! I can't remember every single precious moments in life and I can't thank Him enough for them but all the same, He gives and He satisfies. God is indeed more than enough!
